Swaledek
Swaledek

The internal area of a house or industrial building where the wall plate is of a regular height of 2.3m from the floor, and an outer perimeter scaffold is in place.

Swaledek by Irish Rope AccessUnlike bean bags or air bags, Swaledek is a fall prevention System and not fall arrest , as the person would step onto the internal Swaledek platform just below wallplate height, as opposed to falling over the wallplate and being arrested lower down, which may still carry a risk of injury if the person landed wrongly.

Swaledek
is manufactured as a fall prevention system for use mainly in the building industry, to prevent a person from falling to the next level whilst placing floor joists, roof timbers, or generally working from an outer platform where risk of falling into the building is possible.

Swaledek is an alternative method to beanbags or air bags that would be considered in the same areas of work.

Fall Protection for Working at Height

Swaledek have introduced a new Safety Decking System which meets

HSE guidelines on construction site safety.

  • Conforms with HSE guidelines for working

    at height
  • Creates a platform 2 metres off the
    working floor
  • Quick and easy to erect and dismantle
  • Easy to handle
  • The panels and components are strong,
    durable and lightweight
  • Economical in cost, transport and erection

Swaledek should only be used as class 1 EN 12811-1: 2003 0.75kn/m2 light duty only

PURPOSE OF THE DECK SYSTEM:

Swaledek is erected for the purpose of preventing a fall whilst fixing floor joists and roof trusses into position. The platform is fixed at a height approx. 225mm below the wallplate.

The function of the deck at this position maintains a full platform to the whole internal perimeter of a room to support a person if they slip off the wallplate onto the platform and it also qualifies as a working platform.

The platform is supported on 2m legs and is fixed to the panels by means of a connecting collar and retainer clips. Swale conforms to class 2 platform with a safe working load of 1.5kn per square metre and HSE guidelines working at height Regulations. To class 2 EN 12811-1 2003.
